Before my daughter goes off to school, we wanted one last family package holiday<\/a> before the cost multiplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We wanted easy, kid-friendly, cheap, simple, sunny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Out of school summer holidays, we find Balearic islands or Canary Islands have a little more guaranteed sunshine and much nicer scenery than mainland Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After months of Matrix style searching, I found an amazing deal for Hipotels Mediterraneo Club in Sa Coma. Two weeks, bed and breakfast, in May, for \u00a31200 for 4 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you need some help booking your next sun holiday then check out my travel services here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n When I pay so little for a holiday, I lower my expectations. That is just \u00a385 a night which is now cheaper than a frickin Premier Inn?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Still, the hotel and facilities (especially the family facilities) exceeded my expectations!<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Hipotels are a small chain of hotels from Mallorca to Cancun. Do remember I have zero affiliations with any companies so always give my honest opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What I didn\u2019t realise about this hotel is how big it was. I usually hate a larger hotel with toddlers as find the walk to the restaurant or reception equates to hiking Snowdon, but Hipotels Mediterraneo Club have absolutely nailed this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It was more like 3 different hotels next to each other. With one of those being adults only, it felt like they place you based on your party or you could definitely request this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our area of the hotel had all the children\u2019s facilities and the other one was for families with older children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite the site being so big, I think we had one of the furthest rooms away from the kid\u2019s pool and it was still such a short walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sa Coma itself is a really family friendly destination. It is your typical beach front promenade with 20 restaurants with the exact same menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You walk to the back of Hipotels Mediterraneo Club, cross a path, and you are on the beach. The kid’s club even take the children there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n What we did really notice as first time Mallorcareianisms was how turquoise the sea was!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Probably not safe enough for toddlers to properly swim in, well not for my floating unflushable turds, but we enjoyed a shallow paddle and playing with our sand toys.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n We also did a day trip to Mallorca Safari which was a nice break from the resort and very toddler friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One day, we ventured to Porto Cristo on the bus for a change of scenery. It was really nice but would only go if you are in Sa Coma for a long time as there is more than enough to do there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You will see those funny family bikes that would look so <\/em>cringe on Southend seafront but for some reason they just have to be done when abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The kids actually cried when we had to give it back because they had so much fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are a lot of free parks<\/a> around the area too and even free roaming chickens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As a typical holiday resort, all the sea front restaurants are very similar and you have probably eaten in plenty of them before in other European summer destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n We ate out most nights but here are some that we would return to if we went back to Sa Coma:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Restaurant B.I.A.Steak House Pizzeria ‘Oasis’<\/strong>: From the outside this looks like any other restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n This is not AI this is us in a restaurant with both <\/em>kids asleep. God did that cider taste good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This made top of the list, not because both children slept, but because they had an indoor children’s play area. It was simple, with it basically just being a Wendy house with a couple of toys, but good for toddlers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Outside they had a little motorbike track type thing that we didn’t try but looked great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The staff were also so good with the children. Portion sizes are huge and good value for money too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n QU4TRO Restaurant<\/strong>: Is a bit of walk to the next beach but the food here was incredible! It is also close enough to the beach for children to play whilst you enjoy a drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pato Pekin Duck<\/strong> simply makes the list because it was so cheap. It is right near the hotel and I just love a chinese!<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Passeig Neptu<\/strong> is a road when you turn right out of the hotel and has plenty of beach front restaurants. They all have the same menu, we probably ate at most of them and they were all pleasant but the view is really what we will remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n I don\u2019t think I have ever <\/em>been on a holiday and gone \u2018yes\u2019 this is the answer to all my toddler\u2019s wishes. Because toddlers are terrorists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are, however, some things we found incredibly frustrating about Hipotels Mediterraneo Club\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n The children\u2019s evening entertainment was not until 20.15 (in May) which was too late for our toddlers after a busy day playing and swimming. I do, however, think this is a European thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The kid\u2019s club was primarily in Spanish so our children did not enjoy it. I know it is so <\/em>conceited to expect another country to speak to our kids in English but if I can\u2019t teach them how to wipe their own arse I can\u2019t teach them another language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have a remotely needy boy. He grumbles every time I drop him off at nursery and greets me when I pick him up like he has survived the second world war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The kids club at Hipotels Mediterraneo Club had zero tolerance for his neediness and would call us 30 minutes into every session to say he wanted me to collect him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If this was a paid service I think they would\u2019ve tried harder to keep him there and engage him but it always felt they gave up pretty quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Now for my biggest bugbear of any children\u2019s entertainment\u2026 The conga. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The sodding conga line!<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the evening entertainment, if you can stay up that long, one rep will lead 10 thousand children on a conga line back to mainland Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why does every children\u2019s entertainment thing this is a good idea?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Instead of sipping my Pina Colada I am now searching for my 2 foot child in a sea of children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I am thinking of starting a petition against kid\u2019s conga lines and taking it to Downing Street.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n For more tips on how to keep your little ones entertained abroad, check out what toys I pack for summer holidays.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n In May, the pools were so so<\/em> cold that our children didn\u2019t stay in them as long as we expected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our children love <\/em>water so would expect a full day by the pool but we got 2 hours max out of them and I just think this is because of the water temperature as the pools themselves were incredible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n In May, we experienced averages temperatures of 20 degrees. According to Mallorquins, this calls for heating in your accommodation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n After the air conditioning blew out hot air I went to reception to report a fault only to be met by a line of 20 others reporting the same thing. Apparently, a drop to a certain temperature defaults to hot air blowing out rather than cool. We did have an effective ceiling fan but only in the main bedroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I personally wouldn’t go to Majorca in May again. Everything is aimed to be enjoyed outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another example of this is that the Kid’s Club put on a weekly Disney show that the child rehearse in the day. This is such a fantastic idea and my daughter was so excited to be a fish! <\/p>\n\n\n\n Unfortunately it rained and the whole show was called off because there is no indoor entertainment space. This also bought back PTSD of when I got chose to ride Ariel’s parade float in Florida when I was 10 but a storm called off the parade. It was an extra kick in the gut that both our missed opportunities to stardom are Little Mermaid based.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you are lucky enough to get sun on your sun holiday then check out my tips on keeping toddlers safe in the sun<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I do want to end on all the positives as this was generally such a good hotel and would definitely return here or to another Hipotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Things like kid\u2019s club, air conditioning and entertainment are such minor problems compared to some resorts we have stayed at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The temperature of the water is completely fine if you are a beluga whale or just wait to go in warmer months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Still, the conga line, unforgivable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So here is why Hipotels Mediterraneo Club is a really good choice for toddlers\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n The kid\u2019s facilities are truly amazing. There are plenty of different pools to choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n From a splash park, a shallow pool with slides suitable for young toddlers, bigger pools and shaded shallow pools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our children particularly enjoyed the park which had a huge sand pit with free sand toys in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The kids club also do nice little extras like facepainting, balloon animals, and a family fun day with a bouncy castle and water zorbing which my kid\u2019s loved!<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n This was one of the only places I could find that would take a 2-year-old at their kids club. Most start at three, or have a chargeable babysitting service. They do not change nappies so you will get a call if they do a poo to come and change them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Whenever we have used a nursery service on holiday before my 2-year-old, who is stuck in a 17 year old’s body, got really bored of being around younger babies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hipotel Kids Club also meant that both of them could be together which they really enjoyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Kid\u2019s club age is another really annoying thing that you can\u2019t filter when searching for your next holiday. So you need to go into each hotel website to find this specific information. If you have other criteria you want from a holiday and don\u2019t have time to scroll through thousands of options check out my travel services<\/a> that can help you with this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The hotel in general had some really nice touches that just made our stay more comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n It sounds silly but things like refillable washing up liquid (that we actually used for bubbles in our travel paddling pool).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additionally, our room was cleaned and beds made every day which you don\u2019t usually get with self-catering resorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There was a travel cot put up complete with bedding when we arrived. Even though we hadn\u2019t requested it so they must have seen my son was two and automatically put it in the room. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Unfortunately, my son is also a Ninja Warrior finalist so we said we didn’t need it and they took it immediately. Both show the good service of the hotel.<\/p>\n<\/div> <\/p>\n\n\n\n This was also my first time travelling with Jet2 Holidays and I really rate them. Everything was smooth, there was no hidden costs, luggage was included<\/a> and I found it better value than some other holiday companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n I usually book everything separately to save on costs but it was so nice that everything was taken care of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For a one off fee, I will find a holiday that matches your family’s unique requirements and take the stress out of planning your next holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n or Majorca?
